āHeās a bit of a genius I think. Based up in the highlands, maker of machines, music and artā Mary Anne Hobbs (BBC 6Music)
āUnder This Hunger Moon We Fellā is the new album from the uniquely talented, multi-instrumental artificer Lomond Campbell, the third and final instalment of his experiments using tape loops at the heart of his music making process.
The album ranges from soft, delicate atmospheric musings such as āBastard Wingā and āLeave Only Love Behindā to the dark electronics of āAnd They Are Afraid Of Herā and āPhonon For No Oneā, which Campbell describes as āakin to a massive machine starting up, like a huge sinister power mobilisingā. During its gloomier moments, āUnder This Hunger Moon We Fellā buries tonally ambiguous ambience underneath hazy, distorted textures created via the gradual degradation of the tape. It creates a dream-like backdrop with a moody undertone created by deep basslines and hulking percussive elements, blended with orchestral sounds that add an air of humanity.
