For our second look at Frank Zappaâs 1968 European tour with the Mothers of Invention, we turn to the final leg of the tour in London and Paris. Side One was recorded at BBC TV Studios for Late Night Line-Up and Zappa starts off by thanking the BBC for featuring music which could never be heard on American radio. On Side Two we have another studio broadcast, this time from ORTF Franceâs Forum Musiques presented by Philippe Koechlin. The band performs, in front of a crowd of around fifty enthusiastic spectators, âThe String Quartetâ, the original stage name for the medley of "Pound for a Brown" and "Sleeping in a Jar." And finally, a couple of live bonus tracks from TV shows; âIn Memoriam: Hieronymus Boschâ from Fred Weintraub's WOR-TV New York show From The Bitter End and âAmerica Drinks And Goes Homeâ* from âThe Steve Allen Showâ. Recording quality is excellent except*.
