33 Tripolar Vinyl LP 2026
Tracklist:
Tbc
33 began as a loose constellation around Bill John Bultheel and Alexander Iezzi, but over time the project has settled into a sharper, band-like unit. With multi-instrumentalist Cem Dukkha and vocalist/clarinetist Ivan Cheng now full members, Tripolar marks their most defined statement yet â and their first for Haunter.
Assembled from hours of open-ended improvisation, the album was carved and edited into shape from sessions that drifted between percussion, guitars, strings, piano, hurdy-gurdy, synths and live-sampled CDJs. The result moves closer to song form without losing the volatility at the core of 33âs process. Itâs playful and destabilising in equal measure, like a folk pageant unfolding inside a fractured timeline.
Chengâs vocals add a melodic anchor, though guests frequently take the lead: Astrid Sonne, Lord Spikeheart, Olan Monk and Golin each bring distinct tonal shifts. Across the record, dense arrangements and abrupt pivots mirror its recurring concern with mental health and fractured identity, from Sonneâs depiction of ADHD to Chengâs queer recasting of an Irish murder ballad on âBabymusiccâ.
